Desert Daylight

The horizon

Lost into the darkened skies of daylight

Dim spots of sunlight poking through the thick wall of smoke

Flickering across the desert horizon

Flames of orange and red

Shooting skyward

Plumes of black and white smoke adding more to the darkness of the deserts daylight

Standing Close in these fields of flame

Heat on the face

The air being sucked from your lungs

As you turn away there's just more of the same

The darkness of the deserts daylight

Kuwaiti Oil Well Fires 1991

Welcome to the fires of Kuwait.  These images were taken during August of 1991.  The oil well fields were located north of Camp Monterey which is north of Camp Doha.
